Shrinkray Privacy Notice
Last updated: 6 September 2026
Shrinkray is a super simple tool that runs entirely in your browser. Video processing happens completely locally on your device with zero cloud uploads, and we use an anonymous usage counter to celebrate compression milestones. Here's exactly how it works.
1. Your video stays on your device
When you drop a video into Shrinkray, the video itself is never uploaded to the internet. The video is squeezed down and saved entirely on your own device using tools built right into your browser. At no point do we ever see your video, any frames from it, or any details about it.
2. Anonymous Compression Counter
To celebrate community milestones and display the total number of videos compressed, Shrinkray uses an anonymous, privacy-friendly counter service provided by CounterAPI. When a compression finishes, a single anonymous ping is sent to increment the aggregate tally. This request contains zero personal data, zero file metadata, and no video information whatsoever—it simply increments a public numeric counter hosted on counterapi.dev.
3. GitHub Pages hosting
The Shrinkray website is hosted on GitHub Pages (which is basically just a folder of files that GitHub serves for us). When you load the site, GitHub's servers receive standard web request info, like your IP address. This is just how the internet works, done by GitHub, not us. We don't control these logs or look at them.
4. Third-Party Links
If you choose to support us by clicking a "Buy Me a Coffee" button or similar links, you'll be taken to a third-party payment provider. We don't process or store any of your payment information.
5. Get in touch
Shrinkray is built with 💜 by PixeLabs. If you have any questions or feedback, feel free to open an issue on our GitHub repository.
